THE Australian Taxation Office will this month brief the industry for the first time on its planned $1 billion-plus outsourcing program.
The ATO has issued tenders for an outsourcing support panel of suppliers who will provide advice on the billion ICT program.
The tendering process for the complete outsourcing plan is expected to take until 2010 to complete. The plan has been put in place as the ATO’s outsourcing relationship with US technology services giant EDS comes to an end.
Prospective panellists’ have to register by October 23, ahead of a full briefing on the ATO computer and communications services plans on October 31.
The tenders for the ICT advisory panel close in mid-November. It is likely that the panel of suppliers will be contracted and operational by the time the ATO issues its first expression of interest (EoI) requests at the beginning of next year.
“As part of the ATO's ICT outsourcing approach there is a need to establish a panel to provide a level of support for ICT outsourcing activities of this size and complexity,” the ATO said in documents issued last week.
“The panel of suppliers will provide highly skilled subject matter experts to provide assistance and advice regarding the forthcoming ICT outsourcing of its complex and large scale information and communications technology environment,” it said.
